📍Arequipa, Peru 🌄
Nestled at 7,000 feet above sea level, Arequipa was meant to be just a quick stop between Lima and Cusco—but it quickly became a place I wished I’d stayed longer.✨
🌋 In this charming town, I stumbled upon Texao, a cozy restaurant/bar owned by Jordan A (who’s only in his 20s!!) Jordan struck up a conversation immediately, sharing stories of his travels and his experience working in the U.S. food and tourism industry. Despite exploring far and wide, he chose to return to his hometown, where his passion for food and hospitality found it’s home.
And then there’s Jordan Landeo (yes, two Jordans!), who brings a similar but unique story. Originally from Lima, his journey has taken him from the suburbs of Italy to various corners of South America, all in pursuit of perfecting his craft in mixology and wine. Despite his extensive travels, he, too, found a home in the calm beauty of Arequipa, a perfect backdrop for refining his style. 🌐🍷
🍹✨ What stood out to me the most was their philosophy on drinks. To the Jordans, a cocktail isn’t just a set recipe—it’s a conversation. It's about understanding the person in front of you, learning their preferences, and crafting a drink that perfectly complements their taste.
If you’re aiming for Machu Picchu, don’t sleep on Arequipa.
Explore the majestic Misti Volcanoes, wander the tranquil downtown, and make sure to stop by Texao for a drink with a story.
